Reog is the traditional arts in East Java
that comes from Ponorogo. The history of reog beginning stems from a
rebellion Ki Ageng Kutu which is a royal servant when Kertabhumi Bhre

last king of Majapahit empire, which ruled in the 15th century Ki Ageng Fleas furious because of the strong influence of the wife of the king of Majapahit originally from China. In addition to that, he was also angry with the king himself in running the government a lot of corruption. He can make sure that the power of the Majapahit empire will soon be over.

Around the year 2007 our neighboring country Malaysia, once claimed reog as their native culture. Even in a
period of 5 years Malaysia has claimed seven Indonesian Culture.
Knowing that the people of Indonesia obviously furious and did not receive if the original culture of Indonesia is recognized by other States that are clearly genuine culture in this country. My question is why the Indonesian people realize now after this incident? Why not do it sooner we care that Indonesia has many valuable cultural heritage? Culture that must be preserved and introduced to the younger generation so that they know the origin country.
Indonesian People get angry if another State claimed its culture, while they were reluctant to introduce its culture to the younger generation. They prefer to adopt Western culture seem more modern, simple and contemporary.
From the above it is instructive that the cultural heritage is far more valuable than anything. Moreover, not all countries have such a cultural diversity of Indonesia. So how cultural presence reog Traditional especially in this modern era?
Reog seems to have been familiar in the community, especially in East Java. But the reality is happening in our generation is addicted to modern technology (gadget). In fact on the ground, rarely parents who introduce traditional culture to their children. They even introduce the latest and greatest gadgets that their children do not seem clueless and keep abreast of the times. As a result children now spend more time in front of their gadgets rather than playing with their peers outside the home let alone to recognize its own traditional culture. In fact, they seem indifferent shut down of the culture and the individual because they assume that the gadget is everything.
Sad indeed see the reality of today’s youth. They are more memorize actor, singer, and cartoon characters (superhero) from abroad in detail rather than its own culture. So who is to blame? The parents or the children themselves?
We can not arbitrarily blame any party. The question is who is to blame, this is a shared responsibility. The waning of local culture among the younger generation depend on the role of government, the public, and more tapered in the elderly because in fact they have the same stake in introducing cultural heritage to the grandchildren.
There is need for action in the community, such as incorporating the local culture into the schools as extracurricular reog. This has been implemented in a few schools in Ponorogo ranging from elementary, junior high and high school. Even one of the Universities in Ponorogo forward reog as his alma mater since become one of the UKM that took part in the advancement of the local traditions, especially in the area reog Ponorogo. Not only the Government of Ponorogo was also aggressively promoting reog in the National arena through the National reog which be held at Festival each year to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram (1 Suro in Javanese language).
Given that real action can introduce Local Culture in the wider community, although just watch the show at least we know the origin and history reog itself. Not only is it the social media we can share and educate other young people. Nobody does not know the local culture mungin in us if we want to try. responbility themselves alone are more responsible in our own culture explored. If our culture is more beautiful and precious, why should adopt a foreign culture that is not necessarily positive and advantage for our lives? We should be proud to be an Indonesian who has a cultural diversity that is not owned by any country, including reog just one of so many of our cultural heritage. So, more sensitive and critical ya guys in sorting and selecting foreign cultures. Do not forget to also introduce our local culture to the world that Indonesia was beautiful and rich culture.
